Meet Dr. Angie

Dr. Angie Paccione has dedicated her life to activating potential… on the court, in the classroom, in the state legislature, and in the C-suite.

From her days as a point guard at Stanford University to her role as Executive Director of the Colorado Department of Higher Education under Governor Jared Polis, Angie has inspired and led in contexts where outcomes are important but people are even more so. Her happiness lies in getting the win and making others look good in the process.

Prior to her work in public service, Angie spent over a decade with Verus Global, collaborating with leaders from the factory floor to the C-suite in 40 countries and all 50 states. Her focus is on leadership development, diversity and inclusion, talent strategy, and change management – all of which are filtered through a bias for action.

The responsibility of leadership, in her view, is to create the conditions where potential is activated every single day.

She has been a pioneer throughout her journey. The first full-ride athletic scholarship recipient for an African American woman for the Stanford Women’s Basketball program, among the first women to play professional basketball, the first woman in Colorado to coach a high school boys’ varsity sport in the largest classification, and the first African American to appear on a federal ballot in Colorado.

Born in the South Bronx to a Black single mother, Angie’s story is rooted in resilience, discipline, and belief. Her leadership philosophy is simple but demanding: commit fully, move decisively, and build environments where others can rise.
