Shared goals don’t equal shared execution.
The compass doesn’t unite the energy and efforts of a group.
What does?
There are three requirements for colleagues to operate in deep alignment:
1. Each person must show up:
Demonstrate the group’s prioritized values—both thinking and behaviors—at the same time.
2. Colleagues must regularly sync up:
Synchronize their efforts while executing plans.
3. Team members must build up:
Interact in a way that creates increasing value through one another.
Connectors—those who connect colleagues in the flow of work—do these things.
Establishing what you and your colleagues need to achieve doesn’t differentiate your leadership. Connecting colleagues in how they get there does.
